This park is one of the biggest and the oldest in Thailand. This protected area was established in 1962. It is only 3 hours driving from Bangkok. Wild Asian elephants are often seen here by visitors. Barking deer and muntjacs are often seen around the places where visitors spend the night. The Haew Suwat waterfalls in this park were used in the movie The beach with Leonardo di Capri. Besides waterfalls the landscape is scattered with green grass fields. Among the activities that you can do in this park are mountain climbing, (self guided) trekking over more than 20 jungle trails, bird watching, night safari’s in a open pick up truck, and bicycling. Some of the activities and accommodations can be booked in the visitors centre. Besides spending the night in a bungalow it is also possible to sleep in tent on a camping ground. Because of the altitude it is most of the time quite cool. Air-conditioning is not necessary. During the rain season there are leeches everywhere in the grass and on the jungle trails. Visitors must wear protective plastic or canvas around their ankles. Duct tape to seal your jeans and shoes together might also do the trick.
