Pattaya

Only 150 km south east from Bangkok (2 hours driving) is the coastal town of Pattaya. Until the 60s it was a quite fishermen town but nowadays it is famous and notorious for its nightlife and “adult entertainment”. Besides these stereotypes you can enjoy much more in and around Pattaya city. There is a magnificent temple called the sanctuary of truth. This temple is completely build from wood. There is a modern arts museum called Art in Paradise. Here you can see some modern 3D effect paintings. There is a zoo with a crocodile show. There is a marine life zoo called Underwater World Pattaya. Here you can enter the world of colourful fishes and big sharks by walking through a tunnel made of glass. More water fun can be found in the Splashdown Waterpark and the Cartoon Network Amazone Waterpark. The Splashdown Waterpark is based on the TV show Whipe Out. Ever wondered how all the Thai spices are grown ? Go to the Asian Spicy Garden. Another magnificent garden near Pattaya is Nong Nooch Tropical Garden. Here you can easily see how much Thai people love flowers and gardening. There is a sheep farm with all kinds of farm animals and Dutch windmills. Very nice for small children. Also nice for children is the Teddy Bear Museum. Did you know that there are wines produced in Thailand ? Go taste them at the Silverlake Winery. Theatre dancing shows with ladyboys (transgenders) can be found in most of Thailand’s tourist hot spots, also in Pattaya. The shows at Tiffanys are world famous for being extraordinary with beautiful costumes and décors. The shows are family friendly and popular among group tours. Each year there is a beauty contest called Miss Tiffany’s Universe which is broadcast live on Thai national television. After all these different things what you can do in Pattaya you might easily forget that Pattaya is a beach city. There is also a small island named Koh Lan on the coast of Pattaya. You can easily go here as a day trip.
